"Saint John the Almoner, the period from the 6th to the 7th century" - 3rd Scientific Conference of the Metropolis of Limassol

Athanasios Koutoupas, a Ph.D. Candidate on CyI’s Doctoral Program “Science & Technology in Cultural Heritage” participated to the 3rd Scientific Conference of the Metropolis of Limassol titled “Saint John the Almoner, the period from the 6th to the 7th century”. The conference was organized within the framework of a series of scholarly conferences on the history of art and civilization under the general title “Limassol in the centuries,” in the context of the celebrations of Limassol’s patron saint St. John the Merciful, 619-2019 AD, 1400 years from his death. The conference tok place on the 2nd and 3rd of November in the event hall of the Holy Metropolis of Limassol. Mr. Athanasios Koutoupas presented a paper with the title “Alexandria from Byzantine rule to the Persian conquest: History and topography of the city.” The paper discussed Alexandria of the late 6th - beginning of 7th century. A historical review of the previous centuries was  presented as well as the construction of the topography of the city from the first Christian centuries up to the Persian siege of the city.
